Research

Research Interests

Mouse genetics; cancer susceptibility; colon cancer.

Summary of Research

Identification of genes in the mouse, associated with colon cancer susceptibility. Construction of congenic strains carrying short genetic regions from a susceptible strain into a resistant strain, and testing of candidate genes within this short region.

Organisms Studied

Mouse

Genes/Proteins Studied

Genes involved in colon cancer susceptibility

Human Health Connections

Identification and testing of cancer susceptibility genes in human tumors.

Commonly Employed Techniques

PCR, tissue culture, apoptosis comparisons, rate of incorporation of nucleotides into DNA.

Cell Lines Used

Human HT29 adenocarcinoma cells, and derivatives we make by introducing sh sequences

Organs Studied

Colon
