Vision
Integrated Nanostructured Systems at UB aims to transform nanoscience discoveries into integrated technologies that advance information processing and storage, biomedical diagnostics and therapy, and renewable energy sources for the benefit of industry, human health, the environment, and society. Toward this end, we will:
- Establish and maintain a network of information and expertise and a community of faculty with interests in various aspects of nanoscience and nanotechnology and applications thereof;
- Continually improve the infrastructure necessary to support the research and education activities and the necessary research funding through suitable centers and institutes focused on specific areas;
- Exploit existing strengths to attract additional faculty to fill gaps in expertise and establish continued and stable funding for the research and education activities;
- Create a structure that encourages and facilitates mechanisms for translating research and development results into applications through technology transfer to the industrial sector, individual entrepreneurial activities, and formation of small companies;
- Create the necessary environment and capabilities to establish UB as an internationally recognized major force in nanostructured systems and related areas.
