Research Interests

Synthesis and characterization of polymers; synthesis and characterization of organic/polymer nanostructures; biomedical applications of biodegradable functional polymers and nanostructures.

Summary of Research

In recent years, Cheng et al. have developed a new synthetic method of polymeric nanomaterials by selective crosslinking of brush copolymers. Cheng et al. have also established new and facile synthetic strategies of brush copolymers, hyperbranched fluoropolymers, and various functional polymers. At UB, Cheng's group focuses on the development of general methodologies for the preparation of well-defined biodegradable functional polymers and nanostructures, which can further serve as templates for biomedical and bioengineering applications, especially drug delivery and tissue engineering.

Specialized Instrumentation

Gel permeation chromatography (will be purchased)
