A UB 2020 Academic and Strategic Strength

The Value of Collaboration

The University at Buffalo takes an interdisciplinary approach to research. Scientists and researchers from many departments and schools within the university are continually working together to achieve the goals of the Smart Environments and Enabling Discovery ICT initiatives. With access to the resources of a comprehensive university and direct channels to the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Engineering & Applied Sciences, School of Architecture & Planning, School of Management, and Law, researchers are provided with a unique opportunity to work on projects without limitations or artificial departmental boundaries. The interdisciplinary structure of this strategic strength allows for the rapid formation of support and research teams with the complementary skills that are needed to translate information and ideas into usable technology.

Current and prospective faculty members, as well as researchers outside of the UB community, are encouraged to visit our Multidisciplinary Research Highlights page for examples of present collaborative efforts. Additionally, the Faculty portion of the site should serve as a resource for identifying potential collaborators for developing or future projects.
